Will the EU Chips Act help to prevent future chip shortages in Europe?
In February 2022 the European Commission published its EU Chips Act promising 43 billion euros of public and private investments in chips manufacturing.
In this episode, we speak to Christophe de la Taille, professor of Microelectronics at Ecole Polytechnique who helps us unpack the ramifications of the EU Chips Act and the importance of semiconductors for the EU’s strategic autonomy.

About Christophe de la Taille
Christophe de la Taille is a professor of microelectronics who works in academia for more than 25 years. Prior to his role as a professor at Ecole Polytechnique, Christophe worked, among others, as Director of UMS3605 Ecole Polytechnique-CNRS/IN2P3, Director of OMEGA : microelectronics pole at Orsay and held the position of Head of electronics department at LAL. He was involved in numerous research activities and in research management on many notable projects. He has an imposing number of publications, 613 in total in December 2019 and had over his career 70 conference proceedings.
